Purchases at Panera to Benefit the United Way

This year’s United Way Campaign has now raised more than $700,000 — a Pitt record and 93 percent of this year’s overall goal. On Thursday, Feb. 14, members of the Pitt community can increase that percentage by presenting a flyer at the Panera Bread located at 3800 Forbes Avenue for a portion of their sales to be donated to the campaign.

There's still time to donate

The United Way Campaign website has information about how you can donate to support the Pitt campaign.

While payroll deduction is no longer available, other options include credit card, check or even by mail.

Donors can contribute to the United Way Impact Fund, through which the United Way targets funds to support the local agencies that serve populations facing the most critical current needs, or donors can instead choose from hundreds of local and regional organizations to direct their contributions toward.

“This fundraiser is yet another way Pitt can support the United Way, and in doing so, help contribute to the economic development in the region,” said Chris Turner, director of operations in the Office of Economic Partnerships, who helped arrange the promotion with Panera.

Customers can show either a paper copy or cellphone image of the flyer at the register. The flyer can be distributed digitally to your friends and colleagues for easy sharing. Best of all, Panera Bread will donate sales from all customers who present the flyer — regardless of whether they are faculty, staff or students of Pitt — so share with friends and colleagues across campus.

The promotion will last from 4 to 8 p.m. and is valid only at the Panera Bread located at 3800 Forbes Avenue.
