Thomas Starzl Documentary to Premiere at Carnegie Science Center

On Friday, April 12, the Carnegie Science Center will host the premiere of “Burden of Genius,” a documentary on Thomas E. Starzl, known as the “father of organ transplantation.” The documentary details the story of Starzl’s 60-year career, including the world’s first successful liver transplant.

Co-produced by Carl Kurlander, senior lecturer in Pitt’s Film and Media Studies Program, the film was named a finalist at the Raw Science Film Festival and won the global health competition at the Cleveland International Film Festival.
