Thornburgh Family Lecture Highlights How Service Dogs Help Their Humans

Have you ever wondered about the difference between a service dog and a therapy dog, or how either is matched with the people who need them?

Register to hear Kathleen Smith Bell, a volunteer for Canine Partners for Life and the SCI-Somerset Prison Puppy Program, to learn more about the myriad ways service dogs assist children and adults with disabilities.

The lecture, hosted by the Thornburgh Family Lecture on Disability Law and Policy as part of the Dick Thornburgh Forum for Law and Public Policy, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the University Club’s Ballroom A.

This year’s recipient of the Dick Thornburgh Forum Disability Service Award, which allocates $4,000 per year to a Pitt student from any campus whose service has made a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities, will also be presented at the lecture.
