14 Projects Receive Open Educational Resource Grants

To support the development of open educational resources (OER), the Office of the Provost provides funding to faculty projects that will enhance the educational experiences of Pitt students, save students money on course materials as well as provide these faculty with the ability to customize their courses.

OER is defined as high-quality curricular materials—textbooks, lab notebooks, videos—that are free to students at Pitt and other institutions and allow legal permission for open use and adaptation. Open use means that anyone is free to retain, reuse, revise, remix and redistribute these educational materials as long as attribution is made to the original creator or author.

In 2018, 11 projects were funded; 19 projects received grant funding in 2019.
