Awards Honor Partnerships with Community Impact

Recognizing community engagement principles such as reciprocity, mutual benefits and significant community impact, the Senior Vice Chancellor for Engagement’s Partnerships of Distinction awards honor outstanding University collaborations with community partners.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2020 awards, which will be announced at the 2020 Community Engaged Scholarship Forum.

‘A perfect complement to the CESF’

The daylong event celebrates the diversity of community-engaged work conducted by faculty, staff and students from across the University. At the annual event, those from Pitt present their community-engaged work, discover new avenues of partnership, network with others at Pitt and celebrate the University's commitment to community engagement.

“The breadth and depth of Pitt’s community-engaged teaching and research endeavors are astounding—our faculty, staff and students work in partnership with communities down the street to across the globe,” said Lina Dostilio, associate vice chancellor for community engagement in the Office of Community and Governmental Relations (CGR).

“Annually, the Forum and the Partnerships of Distinction awards provide an opportunity to learn about the most outstanding collaborative work happening across the University of Pittsburgh system,” Dostilio said.

“The Senior Vice Chancellor for Engagement’s Partnerships of Distinction awards are a perfect complement to the Community Engaged Scholarship Forum,” said Jamie Ducar, director of community engagement in CGR. “Holding up exemplars of this collaborative community engagement speaks directly to our theme of ‘Progress through Partnership.’ I’m thankful that the offices of the Provost and the Senior Vice Chancellor for Engagement are offering this space for institutional acknowledgment.”

Submissions for proposals for the 2020 Community Engaged Scholarship Forum are being accepted, as are nominations for the Senior Vice Chancellor for Engagement's Partnerships of Distinction Awards. The submission deadline for both is Sunday, Dec. 15. The awards will again be conferred at the forum, which takes place on Tuesday, March 3, 2020
