Lisa Garland Named Director of Talent Acquisition

Starting Feb. 11, Lisa Garland will serve as director of talent acquisition for the University’s Office of Human Resources (OHR).

Garland comes to OHR from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, where she serves as the diversity and multicultural program manager and has developed and implemented various recruitment and retention strategies dedicated to building a diverse workforce.

Prior to joining Pitt, she worked for Highmark Health for 17 years in various roles, including program operations manager, senior talent recruiter and consultant and university relations and diversity recruitment manager. In addition to experience implementing recruitment strategies and models, Garland also has led the exploration of new sourcing channels to cultivate a strong talent pipeline.

Garland earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Point Park University and has Lean Six Sigma, professional recruiter and diversity recruiter certifications. She is an alumna of Leadership Pittsburgh’s development initiative program, and in 2012 was honored as a Woman of Excellence by New Pittsburgh Courier.
