Empathy can make helping others in need feel good, but it can also create secondary traumatic stress for helpers — a condition called compassion fatigue.
On Friday, April 5, the Mental Wellness Task Force of the University Senate’s committee on benefits and welfare will host “Compassion Fatigue: When You Are Tired and Stressed from Helping.” Facilitated by Cynthia Grendel from Life Solutions, the brown-bag lunch and learn will cover ways to handle compassion fatigue through healing and self-care.
The event will take place in the O’Hara Student Center dining room from noon to 1 p.m. The event is open to the Pitt community and no registration is required. Read the event flyer for more information.
