You may notice a new feature to @Pitt’s website and newsletter this week. 

We’re proud to launch With Distinction, a section for the news about the good work and accomplishments from around the University—and the faculty and staff who earn them.

With Distinction combines Accolades—briefs about accomplishments and awards earned by University schools and departments and faculty and staff—with the newly created On the Move—announcements sharing notes about new hires, promotions and appointments of staff and faculty.

There’s no better way to share your department or office’s personnel announcements with the University of Pittsburgh faculty and staff community than in On the Move through @Pitt. Staff and faculty new hires, promotions and appointments can be submitted using an online form. The Office of University Communications may edit submissions for style and clarity.

On the Move notes should include text about the personnel change (no more than 250 words—links to other Pitt websites with further information can be included in the note). Photos like headshots can be uploaded as JPGs; if a photo is not provided, we will use a Pitt campus stock photo.

As with each Accolade, On the Moves are easily shareable through Facebook, Twitter and email using the icons at the top of the article. Printable versions are also available at the top of each story’s page. 

We aim to edit and publish On the Move listings within five business days of receipt. Once published, each With Distinction headline and link will be included in the following week’s @Pitt email newsletter, which is delivered every Wednesday to all University staff and faculty.
