Second Annual Pitt PARK(ing) Day Is Sept. 21

Every September, citizens, artists and activists around the world turn metered parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces — temporary parklets, creative interventions and social spaces — for one day, raising awareness about the importance of a livable city and helping us to rethink how our streets can be used.

Last year, the Center for Creativity and the Department of Parking, Transportation, and Services teamed up to sponsor Pitt's first PARK(ing) Day event. More than 20 centers, departments and student organizations took part and transformed spaces into gardens, art studios, performance areas and more.

Drop by this Friday, Sept. 21, at the South Bouquet Street parking lot (BQ) across from Towers and Five Guys for Pitt's second PARK(ing) Day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

University partners participating this year include PittServes, the University Center for International Studies, the Center for Health Equity, Pitt ARTificial, Design for America, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, the Less-Commonly-Taught Languages Center and many more!

Who knows what you'll find "PARK(ed)" in an otherwise ordinary spot? Games, art installations, educational dioramas, impromptu lounges, collaborative art pieces... come find out for yourself!
