Anticipation Ends, Transformation Begins: Bigelow Block Work to Begin Friday

Work begins Friday, Nov. 1, on a nine-month project that will beautify the center of campus, improve safety and accessibility and upgrade utility infrastructure to support future campus development.

Engagement Sessions Scheduled for One Bigelow Development

A series of community engagement sessions is scheduled for August for the parcel known as One Bigelow. The development will serve as the hub of systems-oriented research, applications and education and will house the new School of Computing and Information.

University of Pittsburgh Approves 2020 Operating and Capital Budgets

The Executive and Budget Committees of the Board of Trustees finalized the University’s budgets for the 2019-2020 academic year. The budget includes approximately $130 million for financial aid initiatives like the Pitt Success Pell Match Program and Panthers Forward.

Board Committee Approves Bigelow, William Pitt Union Transformation Project

The project is scheduled to start Nov. 1, 2019, and will enhance the streetscape and landscape along Bigelow and the WPU grounds, improve stormwater management and make crucial upgrades to improve the resiliency of Pitt’s aging utility infrastructure.

Pitt Seeks Faculty, Staff Input for New Health and Wellness Center

The new center — which will physically link the University’s upper and lower campuses — is slated to open for faculty, staff and student use in 2022. Projected at around 300,000 square feet, the center will accommodate a range of wellness, fitness, club and recreational activities and support an active, healthy and engaged lifestyle. 

Third Draft Institutional Master Plan Community Meeting to Discuss Transportation

A more detailed version of Pitt’s draft campus master plan, which was created after more than a year of input from Pitt faculty, students and staff as well as local community members and partners, will be discussed at a community meeting scheduled for April 16.
