Shawn Brown has been selected as the next director of the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. It’s a return to PSC — Brown previously served as the center’s director of public health applications from 2015-17.

Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center Receives Major NSF Funding for New Tech
The National Science Foundation has awarded the Pitt-CMU center $10 million to build a new supercomputer, Bridges-2, to fuel new discoveries in artificial intelligence, deep learning and DNA data storage, among other projects requiring high-performance computing.

Engineering Professor Named Interim Director of Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center
The Swanson School of Engineering's Alan D. George will lead the center, which is a joint initiative between Pitt and Carnegie Mellon University. George also founded the Center for Space, High-Performance and Resilient Computing.
